When determining the required height, you need to decide whether you want the scrolls to extend above the height of the brick piers or to align the top of the scrolls with the brick piers. This choice ultimately comes down to personal preference.
All metal railings are custom-made to order, made to the size you need.
Upright bars are spaced 100mm apart.
Material Specifications:
The frame and horizontal bars are made from solid steel, measuring 30mm wide by 8mm thick.
Each upright bar is crafted from solid 12mm diameter round steel.
The decorative scrolls are formed from 12mm by 5mm flat steel.
Fixing brackets
When it comes to fixing brackets, we never compromise. No flimsy thin folded fixing brackets. These brackets firmly secure your railings to the wall, ensuring maximum reliability and strength. We use the same premium-quality fixing brackets across our entire range. The slot allows the railings to be bolted in place, providing adjustable sizing.
Bolts are supplied to attach railings to fixing brackets; however, we do not supply bolts for securing the brackets to the wall.
Brackets give a maximum of 15mm adjustment, or about +/- 8mm each side.
Price
To get a price, simply enter your required length and height, and the cost will be calculated automatically. These can be supplied in bare metal, primered, or painted—whichever you prefer.
These wrought iron railings can be crafted up to a maximum theoretical length of 3 metres. For long panels, additional support is typically required, provided by one or two upright bars that extend below the bottom horizontal bar. This allows the railing to be securely drilled and fixed into the wall. The maximum length also depends on the height of the railing; taller railings are heavier, making them more challenging to handle and install securely.
For longer metal railings, we recommend using a connecting post fixed to the top of the wall. This allows for extended linear lengths to be achieved. Connecting posts are also ideal for walls that are completely flat without a brick pier at the end.
Examples of connecting posts
We recommend a minimum clearance of 40mm beneath the railing to ensure sufficient space between the railing and the top wall. This gap serves several purposes: it enhances the overall appearance, prevents the railing from touching the wall—protecting the bottom rail from salt damage in the brickwork—and provides enough room to repaint the underside of the bottom rail when needed.
