Wrought iron driveway gates.
Made-to-measure iron driveway gates with a massive choice of designs. Almost every aspect of our driveway gate range is open to change. From the thickness of the material used in the gate’s construction to the style of the top decoration, and where and how the hinges are positioned. These are truly bespoke driveway gates, but without the high price tag usually associated with custom-made gates.
Iron Driveway gates add an extra element of security while keeping children and pets safely away from the road. Upright bars are typically spaced around 100mm apart, but if you are looking to contain a small dog, let us know, as the gap between the upright bars can be reduced in size. For enhanced security, gates can also be fitted with a lock upon request.

To make things a little easier instead of just giving a design a number, I have named them after local towns. This makes them easier to remember. I have chosen a small selection of designs below. Of which i have supplied pricing details.
All are supplied with hinge fittings to be bolted to a brick pier. Along with adjustable hinges to allow +/- 25mm to size. Alternatively, if you require steel posts, these can be supplied at an extra cost.
All are Made to measure, up to 5 metres wide as a pair, height up to 1.2 metres. Taller than 1.2 metres are considered as estate gates.

Helpful info
If a pair of gates are not suitable for you needs would a large single leaf work better? most gate designs can be adapted to a single leaf.
Often we get request for uneven split pairs, this is where you have one leaf of the gate say 3ft wide and the other leaf 6ft wide.
Would a bifold drive way gate suit you needs better? These are great when you have limited inward swing space.
What is an ideal size driveway gate.
The first thing to consider is that whatever the gap is, when the gates are open, they occupy a small amount of that gap—about 3 inches or 75mm. Theoretically, you can fit a car through a 7ft wide gap with room to spare. However, this is only possible if you can drive at the gates in a straight line, which is rarely the case, except when a gate is placed on a long driveway or set back from the property boundary.
If you are driving in at an angle, then you are going to need a wider gap. This is usually the case when you pull off the street directly onto your drive. This can be made more difficult if someone parks in an awkward position, not allowing you to make a good turn into the drive. At this point, you should be considering a 10ft wide pair of iron driveway gates, but you should also consider what other traffic might need to pass through the metal driveway gates.
For larger vehicles such as vans or refuse trucks, which are wider than a standard car, wider gates are a more sensible option. In this scenario, it is advisable to consider a pair of driveway gates that are at least 12 feet wide. Of course, this also depends on the angle and straightness of the approach when a van or lorry passes through the gates.
The drive has a slope

If the drive has a slope, this can cause issues. In the image here, it would have been impossible to have the driveway gates opening inwards. Before the gates would have fully opened, they would have scraped along the ground.
You can always hang the gates with higher ground clearance than normal to compensate for a small slope, but in this case, that would have been impossible. Furthermore, the space for the gates was quite narrow.
The brick piers were set back from the road, allowing the gates to open outwards—ensuring they stayed within the boundary of the property when opened, as gates should not open outwards onto a footpath.
This also allowed for a straight approach for the car when passing through the gates, keeping the gate width down to around 9 feet.
Notes
Gate designs change based on size. Wider gates need more vertical bars, so the pattern must be adjusted unless the drawing shown is the exact size you need. This is why we do not have an online shopping cart—we want you to know exactly what you are buying. We will discuss any size-related design changes with you, and send a drawing for your approval before we start building.
If you are building brick piers for a new driveway gate, talk to us first. We can help you design a gate that fits your vision, even if it is a slightly different size than you planned. This ensures your brick piers are built the exact right distance apart.
