Wrought iron Side gates, sometimes called security gates, pedestrian gates or side alley gates. Side entrance gates are the taller relation to garden gates as they tend to be around 5 or 6ft tall. Very often found on the side of a house on the passage way to the rear access.
These often incorporate locks for more security, a locked gate is a good deterrent to stop someone gaining access to where they should not be. With their added height when compared to garden gates, this also helps with security making them more difficult to climb over.
All our wrought iron side gates are made to measure, as there really doesn’t seem to be a standard size that fits all. Widths of gaps vary greatly as do the requested height of the gates. When it comes to the side alley of a house it is not unusual for the gap to be wide enough to either requires a pair of side gates or an infill panel to reduce the width.
When it comes to design choices there is a mass of possibilities, much will obviously depend on the purpose of the side gate is for.
